I specialize in Contemplative Psychotherapy, a modality that combines Eastern contemplative practices with Western approaches to mental healthcare. I studied this modality at Naropa University in Boulder, CO where I earned my Masters of Arts in 2013. My interest in this field of care was inspired by my experiences as a Comparative Religion major at the University of Washington and I continue to engage in contemplative practices through the Daoist Foundation.
My career in psychology began as a tutor at Northwest Neuropsychology, where I was encouraged to become a counselor. My work has been informed from ten years as a caregiver for young adults and adults with developmental disabilities. Working with this community established my foundation in behaviorist approaches. I find Dialectical Behavioral Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy are two modalities that complement Contemplative Psychotherapy.
At the core of my approach is a belief in the power of love, mindfulness, and change. I strive to create a safe, supportive and growth-oriented environment for my clients. I believe that, with the right tools, we all have an innate clarity and brilliant essence.
